Am I a “Qualified Person”?

This guide is the first step of a two-step process to help you check if you are eligible for admission to the Singapore Bar and what admission requirements you need to fulfil.

This guide helps you to check if you are or could become a “qualified person” as defined in the Legal Profession Act read together with the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules.  If so, you should then use the second guide ‘What Admission Requirements Must I Fulfil?’ to help you check what admission requirements apply to you.

If you are not a “qualified person”, there are other alternative routes to consider.

Getting Started

This guide helps you to locate the legislative provisions that are applicable in various circumstances.  It is your responsibility to read all the relevant legislative provisions in full (including definitions of terms used) before making any decisions (e.g. embarking on a law degree, going on an exchange programme, applying to a law firm for employment or a practice training contract, etc).
