(a) Before 1st January 1994, you commenced a course of study as a candidate for the degree of Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at one of the following universities in New Zealand specified in the Second Schedule:

  • University of Auckland; or
  • Victoria University of Wellington;

(b) You were conferred the degree of Bachelor of Laws (Honours) by that university; and

(c) You obtained a certificate from the Board of Legal Education before 3rd May 2011 under Rule 14 of the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules.

Under Rule 14(1) of the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules, you will also be a “qualified person” if before 1st May 1993, you were and still are in possession of any degree or qualification specified in the Second Schedule to the Rules, and have obtained a certificate from the Board of Legal Education under section 7 of the Legal Profession Act in force immediately before 1st January 1994.

Note

1. Please note that if you are unable to meet one or more of the above requirements (e.g. you obtained a different degree), you are not a "qualified person".  You may wish to consider alternatives for working in the legal field in Singapore.
